Burnout can happen to the best of us. If we are having a busy time at work, trying to juggle too many tasks at once, it can be easy to come to the point where you just burn out. Burnout can completely drain you of all motivation to perform any of your normal job duties. Burnout happens when we have too many tasks to complete and not enough resources to complete them. This will usually happen over a certain period of time but there are signs that someone may be driting into being burned out. We will discuss ways to cope with burnout if you are experiencing it, and productive methods to prevent you or someone you know from experiencing it again.

Unplug

One of the best things to do to help yourself get back on track mentally, emotionally, and physically is to unplug yourself from the technology you use to work. If working too hard is the cause of your burnout, put aside time where you are not able to be reached by your colleagues. This will help you designate time to truly relax and unwind, away from the stressors of work and tasks among other things.

Find Something Meaningful

Being obsessed over work non-stop can really put a damper on anything else you are trying to pursue outside of work. Find an activity or a cause that you are passionate about. Pursuing things that are meaningful to you will help restore a sense of purpose that is not associated with your work. It also gives you the chance to make new friends and relationships!

Sleep

Sleep is incredibly important for anyone who is under a lot of stress or has experienced burnout. The physical aspect of burnout can make you feel tired and sluggish throughout the day. Make sure that you get more than six hours of sleep during the night so you can feel more replenished in the morning. If you are burned out, consider taking off a few days away from work where you can catch up on sleep and relax properly.

The most essential part of dealing with burnout is to take care of yourself first. However, which way you can find to best help you relax from stressful environments will help you fight the effects of burnout.
